clanchief
Wow you have one of the old girls, I started out shootin with one of those. They are quite remarkable,I wish I still had mine it was a 4 shot though, they were made in the mid eighties and can prove hard to get decent spares for if they have seen a lot of service through use at clay grounds.I was taught to shoot with mine by an Olympic coach and my pals dad who was a current Scottish internationalist and it was easy to dust clays all the time with it.You can remove the choke to shoot skeet as the threads are external and you have a virtual blunderbuss with a cracking spread to get those fast ones. The chokes you should be using depends on the distance of birds you will be shooting and also the shot size and make of cartridge(ie the fps )load in grams.I used to use very fast shells with mine, but I was taught to shoot a bit like snap shooting, mount, point at bird and pull trigger and short follow through if any, this type of shooting is ok for woodies and some clays, depends on your style really.I went looking for a 301a this summer and nearly got a 302 but ended up with a 391 Urika for £600,it is just much the same gun as many years ago but with a new number and a few tricks to keep the buyer sweet. 1/4 or 1/2 choke should be ok with 6's in 30 or 32 gram load or pigeons or crows, you may prefer the 1/2 choke as it has the short barrel. clanchief
