Desired_affect
how long should a (12v 12ah/20hr) battery run for on a whirly? as i had two out today and they only lasted as log as the 7ah one i had out the week before. and is there any way to make a circuit to charge both battery's at the same time with the charger??? deny essex
There are variables to try and work out how long a given size battery will last on a rotary. Wind strength, length of rotary arms, condition of the rotary and motor, weight of the decoys ( artificial or heavier real birds) even temperature on the day . From my working's out in the early days of making a rotary, artificial birds on a windscreen wiper style rotary in a no wind situation would draw at running speed plus or minus 1 amp ( I used then 1.5 Ah as an average for running time calculations) , with real birds it can be 2.0 amp plus or minus. Different motors can draw slightly differently current and with strong winds a little more amperage would be used. So given a good and fully charged 7 amp hour battery on a standard wiper motor rotary with real bird decoys I would expect anything from 3 to 4 hours give or take. Most I think on here use around a 17AH battery for a single rotary to last a days session with real birds.
