OSR Sunday

Sunday morning Bleu and I ventured out early to have a mooch around. The OSR field has been hit hard once but ever since they seem to roost in the OSR copse but fly off up the hill to the OSR field there which is a tad larger and slightly ahead of ours. I set-up under a blossom tree and about 50m away from the bee hive with the wind behind me and the field in front with a road some 100m to my left running alongside the field. IT is the first time in a net hide this year so quite enjoyed setting it up and once set-up Blue sat in there happy as larry while I put out the decoys.

While we sat there we watched as huge flocks of 100+ woodies and feral hopped from field to field moving as the incline took them but none ventured our way. The flock that roost in our copse fly in from behind the copse via another farmers field so for a while there was not much happening. Then three came in from behind me, flew over the decoys and down one dropped the others too quick for me to get a second. Well that was one flapper manned or pigeoned and added to the pattern. I always have a few crow decoys in the pattern and this time I grouped them come together and this seemed to draw a few crows in but the canny chaps did not venture too close. The sun was bright and Blue and I had a relaxing morning packing up at 1 with just four to the bag. The other three were single birds coming into the pattern almost out of curiosity and one that perched in the tree next to me...... A slow day but one in the field so never regretted. Time to pack the kit up, drop it off home before coming back with the rifle for some bunny bashing.

Total bag four for six shots - two shots at a crow which I missed.
