buze
Well I spent a considerable time over there this winter, learning to shoot! Got lucky enough to get coaching from 2 great guys, including a recurrent Welsh Captain from years gone by! Now the 'season' of clays seems to have started, and they've really upped their game; it was the first time I shot since before easter, and they had changed perhaps 50% of targets. Like, WILDLY changed, and some of them are really excellent. It was a bit of a shock to the system to go to a 'familiar' stand and look for the 'familiar' birds and not see anything at all.... then press again and exclaim £&!"(*£&£*(£(("£(" !!! Anyway, Jonathan mentioned they are now changing the targets every 3 weeks, and they are going to open a whole bunch of new Sporting Stands as soon as they finish the path to them near the back. Anyone else shooting there?
Will Poon
I venture down there now and again. Jonathan did mention to me that they were setting up some more sporting stands, any idea when they will be completed ?
postie
The county sporting was on there last weekend so the targets will be a little tasty At the moment .good thing is they do set some of the stands up so they can be shoot in different combos Which can be testing and good fun,I all ways get a little carried away so watch your counter I like mid Wales you can all most try most disciplines in one place. Jonathan did mention to me that they were setting up some more sporting stands, any idea when they will be completed ? Well, from what he told me, he should have been opened already -- they were waiting for some land drain they installed to do the job... so 'anytime now' would be a good guess... I'm going there next saturday, I'll report! Ah he mentioned a big competition on the sunday -- so that might explains the few targets I've seen that left me with a neck injury trying to follow them up :-) -- great fun tho! What I like at that ground is that it's laying on a bottom of the valley, so it can be windy, and any hint of wind will change the targets pretty wildly -- this winter I shot during gales, wind, snow etc and it was a lot of fun! I remember a 'chandelle' sort of looper disappearing into the distance when picked up by the wind face on. It was hilarious!
buze
Went by myself this morning, with a slab at the back of the car. Nobody around, and I managed to shoot the 250 in about 1h30, I was working on stance, hand position, and also trying to kill these new quick birds. There are two particularly difficult I found, and I sorta get them now... But I can't guarantee a small tree or two haven't been harmed in the process! Still, traps have been tweaked again. it's quite nice, you go there and stands pop up/down, targets move pretty extensively too. fun!
