Does the wood vary much?

Just handled a couple of guns, Anshutz and CZ at a couple of shops local to me.

As much as I liked the feel of the anshutz I could not live with the stock, the wood was horrid. Very plain and dark walnut. Nice finish but it almost looked plastic.

Both shops had them with short barrels though and could get them for £599 including a SAK mod.....

But I prefered the CZ to look at and it felt fine to me, bolt maybe not as positive but OK. They rang the shipper and they have just had a delivery of 16" American's in already screw cut, they will do a deal at £300. Delivery for next weekend could be on the cards.

Does the wood on the Anshutz vary much?

Time to make my mind up!

Yes the wood will vary on guns sometimes quite considerably shop if you have your heart set on an anshutz then shop around other wise the CZ is every bit as much gun apart from the trigger which is easily sorted out for £12 with a brooks kit.

The bolt will free up fine after a bit of use.

I handled 3 annies in 2 different shops, they all looked identical as far as the wood goes. I was not impressed.

The CZ had much more character to it.

Heart not 100% set on an annie but I like the action.

Not easy this buying lark!
