McSpredder
“Ratting Day is lots of fun” http://www.penguins-and-potatoes.co.uk/?m=201707 “We felt great excitement at being able to witness this annual event that is so much part of the cultural heritage of Tristan da Cunha…. ….. Once each rat has been killed, the next step is to cut off its tail. The tails are all collected in a plastic bag, to be measured and counted at a later time – this is a competition, after all” Some of you might remember seeing a job advert a couple of years ago for an agricultural officer to work on that remote island. The man who took up the post has been writing a blog about his time there, and this bit reminded me of The Tale of Samuel Whiskers, in which cats nailed the rats’ on the barn door. The rest of the blog is also worth reading if you have any interest in life on a remote island, or just want to see photos of the place.
