I think you have the model name/number confused. If it is a new gun, it will either be a 75 or 85, you are I think reading the action size labelled on the side of the action although it should be an action III for 243.

my thoughts exactly fister, but no its neither a 75 or 85 and it is 110% action II

but watch this space. will get photos tomorrow

oh and its second hand

Ronan, I have two A2's. (Sako used roman numerals, so the action states 'AII')

I really like them. I have 75's as well, but I prefer the earlier 2 lug actions of the A - series rifles.

My 243 is a sporter weight model and is currently at Border for a new barrel.

It handles very well- light enough to carry, but still accurate.

The other AII I have is currently a 22/250 Varmint, but will soon become a 20-250 wildcat.

Fister, the A series Sakos were made from the early 80's (1982, I think) and are identical to the earlier L579, L461 etc series of actions. A1's were for 222, 223 and 17 Rem, AII actions for 243, 22/250, 308 etc and AV for 30-06, 270 etc.

Ronan,

you're welcome.

If you find the Sako Collectors Club message board on MSN, someone on there will give you a year of manufacture from the serial number.

Get hold of a copy of 'Bolt Action Rifles' by Frank De Haas, you'll get pretty much all the Sako info you need there.

mry's advice is good- get it bought!
