Devilishdave
The varmint v hunting round thing has been done to death but what are people out there loading and what results are they getting? I load 95grain Nosler Ballistic Silver tip with 42grains of Vit 160 and federal gold primers. Accuracy has the potential to be outstanding. I have acheived 1/4 MOA but average 1 MOA with them with a 3 round group It is roe and Muntjack that I have shot with this set up and I always go for the boiler room. I have never had a round fail to exit and my longest shot was 200m. Most deer I have shot with this set up have ran on slightly even although they have been hit with a perfect heart shot. All deer have been stone dead when I have got to them. I would be interested to hear how others have got on with their load combos. Remember if you are reloading consult the charts not the internet then always start 10% below max loads and work up in small incraments. Browning
My .243 load for deer is 85gn Sierra Gameking, 41.5gns H414, Fed210 Primer, Lapua case. I use this on Munties only, as there are no Roe on my patches, only Fallow for which I use the .270, 130gn Sierra Gamekings.
AndyCM
Hi Dave, I have been using 95g Nosler BT's over 42g of Reloader 22 (I still have a tub and a half so ok for a while) but may have to change powder in the future. Foxes drop The few deer I shoot (at modest ranges) respond well too ! Cheers AndyCM
