chunk
just a question on whether i would need one or not,i shoot a 17hmr with a nikko stirling 6-24x44 scope with range finding capabilities on it,would i be wasting my money on one, does any one regret buying one, thanks for any advice :( cant decide. I use my RX all the time when i`m out with my HMR. I`ve got a merlin 10-40x56 on board, which supposedly has rangefinding capabilities, but have never used them. The optics on the RX are good enough to use it as a spotting monocular so i`m not scanning through my scope when in a fixed position. Ping the target, settle down. Take the shot. If you`re good at rangefinding with a scope, then its probably a personal thing, but i like the luxury of a decent rangefinder. Cheers Andy. Ballie
I use mine quite a lot to find the width of my fields so that at night when foxing if yoy see a fox about halfway accross a field that you know is 400 yards wide you know its about 200 yards. I also use it with my 17hmr because as you know after 125 yards or so the bullet drops quite a lot so its only fair to the bunny to know whether its 130 or 160 to have a clean kill, one thing I will say is that the more you use it on the same ground you do start to know the distance pretty well with out the range finder but that is because you have one!!! I would say either buy a Leica (which is what I have) and once you feel you no longer want it you will get good money back for it or buy a cheap one and look at it as a throw away toy. Tthe only problem with the cheaper ones are that you might not get it to work well on a crow or rabbit sat out in the field sometimes they need more to bounce off. You don't get this with the Leica. chunk
cheers lads some good help there, although iv'e never heard of the RX Leupold RXseries. From RX2 up they have an inclinometer and balistics programmes for bullet weight/calibres etc. I`ve got the RX4 but the compass is a waste of time. Better to go for the 2 or 3 and save a few quid.
