HaveToShoot
Ive been gaining some good field decoying experience and am learning everytime out which I like because it keeps it fresh. Heres one for all you pigeon maniacs out there Is it worth decoying on a roost ie decoys in the trees? I take it this it what these lofting poles are all about. Anyone care to elaborate a bit on the whole thing?

Put your deeks in often used trees, and you`ll get a steady stream of birds thinking its safe to fly in.As ever reconasance pays dividends. Watch what trees the use anyway either through the amount of traffic or droppings around the base of trees. Theres no point putting deeks in areas they dont use, and point them into wind. Andy. HaveToShoot
Thanks for that!! A couple more questions Do you like to use the deeks on the pole itself? Or do you like the hooks to hang them on a branch? How many decoys are needed to be effective. I have watched the birds fly over this long strip of trees with a stream below it. They fly along until they seem to see others sitting, bank around and come in to land. Im thinking in this spot I would like to try lofted decoys

Im thinking in this spot I would like to try lofted decoys I dont always use many deeks, and often just put two in a prominent position on a pair type cradle with the pole still attached. Then if i want to move its quick and easy. As long as they`re easy to see they will attract birds.

Im thinking in this spot I would like to try lofted decoys Ive got 5 hooks that fit in the bottom slot on full bodied deaks use with lofting poles you lift them up in a tree up to 25ft. The trouble is getting them down on a windy day so make up some sort of funnel to go on the end of the pole this will make sense when you see the hole in the end of the pole and the weight at the bottom of the hook very close fit.
