In an ideal world, one with no work to go to, then you would spend three different days over three weeks on the land and at different times i.e 6am-10am, 10am-4pm, 4pm-8pm (dependant on time of year). This way you can see what are regular flightlines and what are diversion routes as the great John Batley calls them. These being because some sod nearby is shooting them or the farmer is doing something in the field they flight over. The birds will shift they flight lines to maintain their safety.

If you buy John Batley's Book Pigeon Shooting, it takes you from A-Z through all between on how to do it properly.

Damn good book.

SS
