derek.snr
just in the process of applying for fac. Am looking for 17,22lr and a 243.i have permission on land that has been passed for 243 but have been advised to get a dsc1 qualification under my belt as it would make it easier to get an open ticket.iplan to use it for fox and a bit of deer stalking.pest control for the smaller calibres any advice? on the easiest way to obtain a dsc i do not want to spend 3 or 4 days if i can help it.derek
Paul223
Derek, the .243 is an ideal foxing round and should be passed for fox / deer no problem, advise the feo during your interview that you intend to obtain the dsc level 1 certificate. If you are a first time applicant the dsc1 would IMHO be very unlikely to sway the feo into issuing an 'open' fac, you will more likely be issued with a certificate which allows you to shoot on your permission and any other land which has been passed by the CoP for that cal (.243)( obviously you need permission over it too!) Keep your nose clean, use a reasonable amount of ammo and pass your dsc and I'm sure you should be able to get the fac opened up after 12 to 18 months. You also have pm!
