Oly
OK, so I'm considering a couple of job offers at present. The one I prefer (read dream job...although it pays less than the other and is further away! ) has it's office based at Fradley (North of Lichfield on the A38), and what with site work, home working etc I'm likely to have to travel to and from the office ~5 times per week. The problem is that the office is 53 miles (1hr 15) away from my home in Whitchurch, North Shropshire. At present I've tried a few routes but still find that the A41, A5, A38 is the quickest (they're all about the same distance) and unfortunately none of these jurneys have been done in commuting hours. I'm really interested to hear whether there are significant traffic queues on the A5 around Cannock and Brownhills around 8am and 4pm - if anyone can let me know how well the traffic flows in this area it may make a massive difference!!! Also, if anyone who knows the area can suggest a good alternative route during commuting hours (in a car) it would also be appreciated. Cheers, Oly
sidibear
Queues on the A5 between Cannock and Brownhills? Oh yes, just a bit, they built the Toll road to try and ease it. There is another option. M6 toll road to the A38 at Lichfield and follow it to Fradley, £4 e/w on the toll though. The other way to go is to pick up the A500 / A50 past Uttoxeter until you get to Toyota then pick up the A38

So is the A5 between Cannock and Brownhills still that bad? A500 would make my journey nearly 70 miles and 1hr 30!
Oly
Would going through Stafford be quicker than going around of Cannock & Brownhills at that time?
PsychoAlchy
Would going through Stafford be quicker than going around of Cannock & Brownhills at that time? I dont know about going through Stafford as i live on the back end of Brownhills myself (about a 2 min drive away) but in rush hour it would be around about 25 mins to get from where you join the M6 Toll in Cannock to the A38 Lichfield (just b4 Fradley) Also i don't use the straight road of the A5 as its normally full of muppets that cant drive so i keep to the country lanes where the view is much nicer and i can keep an eye on whats about on the land i have permission for. I will phone my bro who drives that road a fair bit i will ask him for advice on which way would be the fastest for you to get from A to B and will report back to you on what he suggests.
