08shooter
hi guys im lucky enough to live on a farm and my back fence opens out into an 8 acre field.i was thinking of making a mini range to shoot both fac air and 22lr for now. what would you guys suggest as a good backstop at 60-100 ms.what depth of timber would i need to stop a 22 at them ranges.id like to be able to gather the old lead after im finished as well so i have plans for a bullet trap but id like the wood for added safety , id like to try and leave the targets portable so i can move them to different distances.i have plans for a shooting bench which i ll be able to build with little outlay.it would mean id have a 60-100 m range 14 ms from my back door
Hunter
I have ny own almost complete, 70m range in a woods. Its dug into the side of a sharp bank. If you are going to make a range above the ground, yould need something sold and cheap(ish) I suggest some old railway sleeps, they will last longer then any of use, even if you shoot at them. Otherwise, ideally, a mound of sand. Just make sure its not next to a hedge or dense tree line, or you wont beable to see Joe Bloggs walking blindly onto your range.
