Cluson Torches

I have always been a big fan of Cluson lights and a good few months ago I bought a Smartlite:

I have used this as a general purpose torch out and about, in the wet, in the dry and it has never failed me. It thows a very good tight beam out to 100m and also has a second switch position for a dim light ideal when walking and not wanting to trip over anything but not bright enough to scare away fox or rabbit. The dim light is also great as a working light if fiddling around with anything such as reloading a mag.

I have also just recently brought the filter holder and 2 pop in filters, one amber and one red, for this torch as a back up lamp should my gun lamp stop behaving. It will also be useful to use rather than waving a gun lamp around as it is lighter and less unwieldy than lamp plus rifle.

Not used the filter in anger yet but just been having a shine about out the back of the house and spotted the tell tale set of eye about 100m away with the amber filter, a quick call on the wam had Charlie in to about 40m right in the beam of the lamp.

All in all a great torch, a little heavy but enough guts to last a long time and the two position switch is very useful. Tough construction that will take lots of knock and waterproof too.

Highly recommended.
