Hodmedod.one
Me and ***** were out lamping on Saturday night. On many occasions over the last three months we have seen a fox prowling around the farm but have never managed to get a shot at him. We had only been out of the Farmyard for a few minutes when ***** lamped a pair of eyes which ran into a strip of Game Cover. He was sure it was a fox. Squeaking didn't do any good so we drove around the farm to get to the other side of the field. Sure enough we saw the eyes again. During the next two and a half hours we saw the eyes several times. On a couple of occasions I positively identified the eyes as a fox, but still couldn't get a shot. Eventually ***** got him in the lamp when he was on the edge of a low grass bank on the edge of the field. For some unknown reason he decided to lie down and stare at us. One 100gn .243 soft point in the neck later, game over. A nice young dog We will never know what he found so interesting about that field, but he just kept going back to it despite being lamped again and again. We are sure it was the same Fox because after we had shot him, we didn't see another fox all night.

JohnGalway
Food maybe? Or strong fox smell in that particular field? Glad you caught up with him. I had a similiar experience not so long back, always a better feeling getting those foxes you have to do a bit of work for
