digger
evening all.went out today to shoot over laid barley at the request of the farmer.my mate works on the farm and had been watching the field for me for the last week.it is under a flight line that is used year round and though there were quite a few flying over it not that many were feeding. another mate and i started shooting at ten with decoys placed on the largest flat area which was only ten square yards or so big.no magnet so placed a floater at the tail of the pattern and waited.and waited. after an hour we had shot three between us then the wind picked up and by half two we had fifty three pigeons picked up ( five lost in the barley ),one crow and the added bonus of a fox that got the wrong side of a dose of BBs. not a red letter day but one that will stay in my mind for a long time. one of the most satisfying things is the guy i was shooting with had never handled a gun until a year ago and is now hooked.we packed up at half two because a) we want to shoot the same field again when the crop is riper and A) she who must be obeyed had dinner on the table !
