anser2
I do not think the pigeons have stopped breeding all winter. We have been shooting young birds with no neck rings most weeks here in Norfolk , sometimes 6 or 7 in a day.

anser2
Young wood pigeons take about 3 months to develope their ring neck acording to the BTOs ringers guide. So if you shoot any without a ring neck its less than 3 months old . I have a pair nesting in my garden at the moment with a squab almost ready to fledge. Sundowner
I am with you on this one tealer, it was only last saturday that there were up to 3.000 birds in the field opposite my house ! OVer the last two days I sat with my deeks out, a few hours per day, and all I had come over was 2 single birds, and a few couples well out of reach !! I guess they are shacking up already!!! M ROBSON
I do not think the pigeons have stopped breeding all winter. Last year we shot our first squab on the 31st of March, the second came on the 7th April with a handful more before the end of our spring shooting at the 3rd week of April. This year we shot our first squab on our first day back at the pigeons once the geese finished...........the 1st of Feb!!!!! We have shot at least 15 more since then! The Pigeons have gone bonkers in this area this winter. Mark.
