radio1ham
well i guess any dog will retrieve just a matter of getting the dog to learn if you throw a stick or ball and the dog brings it back straight away then that might be a good start ive seen lurchers bring rabbits back to the hand and my dog tess bless her soul was a cross fox hound labrador and she was good at it also she was a good dog for flushing game etc and also bringing back aswell took her out in feilds and she knew what she was there for her nose was straight to the ground wish we still had her but cancer got her , but she had a good innings 15years old
russuk
I don't see why not. It may not come as naturally as a typical gundog breed, but if you want to give it a go, why not, it won't be the end of the world if she doesn't make the grade, and will certainly be a talking point if she does. Have a look at the topics pinned to the top of this section, and maybe buy a good beginners book (Gundog training made easy by Eric Begbie is a good start). I'd start by having a solid idea in your head of what you want the dog to do.
