rlewis
Went out this saturday for the 1st time with my uncle did a bit of roost shooting. We have been practise at clay pigeon shooting a week back.I got my 1st pigeon with my 1st ever shot at a pigeon. We got 4 of them wasn't bad for me and trust me there were 45 yards away i could'nt belive it we did shoot five but it shot one in half.Hope to go soon so i can double the bag.I was wondering do i shoot them in the trees or flying in the air which is the best way for a shotgun. lewis
give every animal a sporting chance, especially with a shotgun , so flying not in a tree

Ferret Master
When roost shooting in thick woods in can be much easier to pot them as they land rather than when they are flickering high above the tree tops on a calm day providing you are hidden under the trees they land in. Unless really quite close I only shoot a sitting bird at an angle that means I'm shooting it head on in the breast as this will ensure pellets are hitting vital organs rather than just peppering them up the **** or in the thick feathers at the side.
