Baldrick
I shoot left-handed due to a dominant left eye. All my shotguns and rifles are left-handed. If you too have a dominant left eye (which sounds the case) then you'll find it easiest to shoot a rifle off your left shoulder. Any degree of squinting and/or straining to see through a scope will hinder your marksmanship and enjoyment. So I would advise you to shoot left-handed. I posted a thread asking whether there were any left-handers using right-handed rifles. There are few manufacturers making rifles in L/H configurations. I decided to stick with true left-handed rifles as I didn't want to buy a compromise rifle, and I don't plan to sell anything on. There's a very helpful list of left-handed rifles and shotguns available on the "Lefty's Choice" on the Rimfirecentral.com forums.

Baldrick
Yep, you won't have any joy with Howa. I'd steer you towards Browning, Savage, Cooper, and all the big European manufacturers like Sako, Tikka, Heym and Sauer. Those brands cater for lefties, to varying degrees.
