dcliff
What with one thing and another, I haven't been out on the rape at all this year. To make matters worse - I called in to touch base with one farmer, and he complained that his rape has been nibbled bare. In fact, one field has been re-drilled with oats or something, the damage was that bad. Sure enough, I did a bit of recon and they're all over the place. However - one day I got squat down in one hedge and the stogies didn't come back!? Does this mean they're quite content on other fields? or have I missed the boat? No idea what timetable your boats runs to, but there is so much rape about this year. they just move to a field where there is no disturbance and stay there. nav54
over here it has been hard to pinpoint them on a certain field we have only been getting 20-30 in a bag so its not just you mate like said they have so much to go at. if like me cos of work you cant be there all day every day no matter how much i would like to. dcliff
Aye, that sounds about the size of it... One particular field is almost bare - I suppose that may become more of a hot spot when other fields grow taller. Is that likely?
nav54
normally if you have a bare spot then when the rest of the field gets to tall the they will hit this part again normally we have shot rape fields through till late april early may like this. bob300w
What happens with pigeons on rape or peas, is that they will not land on standing crops, they will always land near an edge or bare area and walk into it. Laid crops, like cereals or peas laid by wind they will land on, these are the places to set up.
