gsmith
Hi All question for you i think i know the answer but can you help i have FAC stealth pushing about 22ft lb i have been looking for the Eley no2 Magnum pellet in ,22 for ages i found some anyway when using them they shoot mega low for example at 30yrds i get a 1 inch group with some normal domed Air Arms pellets not sure on the grain but with the magnum pellet its shooting so low like 6-8 " lower they area 30grain pellet is it just because the pellet it so heavy its flatterning the trajectory so much so i need to either re zero for this pellet or work out and aim high.? 1 of 5
Eley Magnums are way too heavy for 22 ft/lb unless you're sticking to close stuff. These are 40 ft/lb + pellets and even then are usually **** in the accuracy department. They often tumble. Stick to the AA's. If you must use the eleys then rezero for them. The Eleys are not flattening the trajectory but exagerating it.
Fisherman Mike
Good old Isaac Newton or Sir Isaac to his friends. He taught us about the effects of gravity on mass in relation to velocity. Your Magnum pellets are probably travelling at a slightly reduced velocity and because they have a greater mass than than the normal ones you use, good old G is having a tug at them. 1 of 5 is right the Ely magnum is more suited to powerful air rifles 30 plus ft/lb even then I have never found them that consistant. I would stick to the AA or even try the Crossman Accupell ( 14.3 grain) which is the most consistant pellet I have found. ( And I have tried and tested 100's) It would be well suited to the 22ft/lb stealth you have. I have also just got through my first 200 of the Logun Penetrator in .22 at 21 grains and have found these very very good at 30m for knocking over bunny. You could as 1 of 5 said, re zero but I dont think you will get the consistancy with the magnum pellet anyway. Let us know how you get on
gsmith
Hi all i guess thats what i thought i could increase the power on the stealth but that increases the noise out of it. So i think i will go with the comments i have a tin of the accupell here some where also the powa pell not sure what there like i have tried many pellets over my time i have at least about 10 pots here from lead to dynamic air bullets and prometus pellets. one thing i noticed once i have webley venom lazapell im sure there the exact same pellet as field & target trophy . what would people say is the best for rabbit and pigeon? ie flat head "wadcutter" poined, dombed hollow tip? reason i ask is i always though wadcutter was a hole punching paper target pellet but today i read that there is a new design great for rabbits? Fisherman Mike
Gavin, I use the accupell for both, the domed head imparts substantially more impact energy and lesser penetration than the powapell. I have in the past shot rabbits with pointed pellets in the head region and and they have run around for a while or even made it back underground. I find that the domed head powapell in my .22 axor at up to 30m stops em dead 90 % of the time if hit anywhere in the head area. I also use Bisley Pest Control occassionally which is a hollow point pellet and these have a fair amount of residual energy on impact. FM.
