Browning B26/B27 for sale with case and slip

Recommended Posts

Hi up for sale and with a heavy heart is my beloved Browning. :good:

This is a Belgium made (and is indeed stamped up as made by Fabrique nationale herstal) Browning B26/B27 model. This was the model that was intended the budget version of the B25 (Brownings top of the range model) but ended up costing too much money to make to be profitable, however the build quality is second to none because of this, this gun is about 20 years old now, and shows virtually no wear to the mechanism at all, mainly due to careful owners and certainly during my ownership it has been maintained to a very high standard being cleaned after every outing and all hinge points greased every time. The action is still tight, the movement smooth, it is mechanically perfect.

Cosmetically it is good, the walnut stock is polyurethane varnished, as is forend, which gives a nice finish and is hard wearing, you could strip and oil it if you wished but it would be a shame really. The barrels are in excellent condition, with nice blue and NO rust pits inside or out, the action has some small areas of rubbing as you would expect from a blued action that is 20 years old and has been used regularly, but it is not unsightly and as you can see from the pictures not noticeable.

The action is selectable barrels, non recoil operated hammers I.E. the second barrel hammer does not rely on the recoil of the first to move it across, single trigger, EJECTOR!

Weight is 7lb/3.2kg, barrels are 28" exactly, chokes are 1/2 and 3/4 on my gauge, length of pull is about 14 1/2" from memory and it has a 3/4"pad on so quite adjustable.

The gun is a sporter, I have used it for everything from pigeons to Clays, most of it's use has been clays (as that's mainly what I shoot) and it has shot both sporting and even dtl and olymic trap extremely well, this gun is a true all rounder the only complaint I have is that it isn't multi choke but Mr teague could sort that out. Although I have found with my new gun after setting the chokes they haven't changed no matter what I shoot and I have them set to 1/2 and 3/4 same as this.

I think the nicest thing about this gun is the fact that it is from a time where cost didn't rule the production, they were producing to a quality not a price, the japanese guns that Browning now sells are great, and the build quality excellent, but they don't have that soul you get from a european gun, and FN are among the worlds best gun makers, it doesn't take much to drop 25k in the browning custom shop at Herstal these days! As an aside they also make several guns for the army so build quality is pretty good too!

Don't worry about the age of the gun, as an 80's gun it shoots as well as anything made today (better than most at the price it is) and will outlast most guns (and owners) parts availability not an issue and since owning it it hasn't needed a penny spending on it, and I really can't see anything other than a good clean every 6 months or so and a basic service every 5 years being necessary, it is on coil springs not leafs so chances of a spring breaking are virtually nil.

The gun comes with a gunmark slip, it is an old but very good quality slip (if you don't want it I'll keep it it's too good to not be used) with sheepskin liner, only giving it away as my new gun is 32" barrels for trap and doesn't fit!

And a mahogany gun case, as can be seen has plenty of room for cleaning kit etc. really finishes it off!

£450 ONO. I am coming over to lancashire on saturday if it helps otherwise collect from East Yorkshire.
