his ok with say 14year old up wards but if you have visitors under that age he needs a muzzle which i have..

would make excellent guard dog but i would like him to go to a home where he is in of a night..

as i say you can have him around kids, ive tryed but he just dont like suprises and being messed with..

he comes and hugs up to me and shows real loyalty but just no good with kids..

good home only with no children under 14 for him please.

looking around £200 which i will also get his micro chip transfered to you..his fully vaccinated and 100% akita and huge and he aint even fully grown yet..he is obideant to a certain extent and house trained..

thanks for pm mate,

he is fine with other dogs but we had a family pet rabbit that escaped and he munched her..

he is good with men just not children, people i got him off was going to put him down and he hadnt even bit,

so i had him and i have gave him trust in me and he does fully trust me but just dont like being messed with when he is lying or sleeping but on the other hand he wants to play all the time and is loyal and obedient to me..

i have my kids at my moms where he is of a weekend and he has just gained trust with my oldest whos 7but he wont tollerate my 2year old..

we just keep the muzzle on him when there arouned but sill he can not be left alone as a slap off him would still knock a kid over, his taken me off my feet playing many a time..

he needs some one with time, my moms happy to have him as i live in a flat "which is why i cant have him", im just trying to get him a good home with some one who knows or is familiar with this type of dog..

we have a girl akita he has been with from start and she helped me teach him to listen and obey..

if a bloke has him he will settle in and be fine, i just dont want some one who think "owe big viscous dog to show off with" as they will soon come un stuck and i dont want him to get a kiddy and then he has to be put down..

just need some one mature 25up who has a little time.

he could be left in garden in day with a run and let in of a night and he would be fine but with kids you will have to at some point let them cross him and thats what i am bothered about..

even some one older whos kiddys have moved out and have a garden would be perfect for him..

i dont want to have to get rid of him but i have added it all up and he is better off with some one who has a little time..

his come along way since i have had him and i would say that i could leave my eldest with him with no muzzle on "eldests 7" but with any dog in my mind you cant trust them 100%..

i think the right person could improve on what i have done as he is really a big puppy, expesially in his mind..

i will put pictres up when i am home monday or tuesday as i have other pictures to put up soon..

thanks and sorry to go on

Akita Inu Description

The Akita Inu is a large breed similar to the Japanese Spitz breeds. They are very distinctive looking breed with powerful, muscular bodies and small, erect ears. Coat colors include white, red, tan, and brindle and a vast array of combinations. Their noses are usually black, but sometimes can be brown. An Akita Inus coat is harsh due to the fact that the outer layer of their fur is waterproof so it is thicker than the other, softer layers.

The breed is a native to the Akita region of Japan, hence their name. They are considered the national dog breed of Japan. The Akita Inu breed was first used as a guard dog, but has also been used as fighting dogs, to aide hunters, and for herding.

Also Known As

Akita Ken

Japanese Akita

Temperament

Despite their aggressive uses in the past, the Akita Inu is a docile breed of dog. They are highly intelligent and very affectionate with those they trust. They are willful and because of this they can be a difficult breed to train. They do have some aggressive tendencies still in their blood. It is because of this aggressive nature that they are not recommended for households with small children. If properly trained, and with children who know how to respect a treat your Akita Inu, they will prove to be a wonderful pet. Akita Inus are not recommended for households with other pets, however, as they will often fight with other dogs to prove dominance.

Health Problems

Akita Inus, due to their large size, are prone to hip dysplasia, especially in their later years. They are are also more likely than other breeds to contract diseases, such as VKH and Pemphigus. The breed is also known to be commonly afflicted with thyroid problems, skin problems, knee problems, and eye problems, so regular bathing and other hygiene regimens are highly recommended.

Exercise

Akita Inus need a moderate amount of exercise. They do best when they have a large yard to run and play in as they are usually quite inactive when indoors, so to keep them happy, they like to have room to run and play daily. Because of their larger size, they are not recommended for people who live in apartments or homes with very small yards.

Special Grooming Needs

Akita Inus require a good amount of grooming. They must be brushed with a wire bristle brush at least twice a week. Their coats must not be bathed too frequently, as bathing too often may remove their coat’s natural waterproofing. Akita Inus shed very heavily at least twice a year.
