reloading for a tikka 6.5 x 55

Recommended Posts

Cheers

It's grouping really well, down to 1/2" @100 yds but i keep getting the circular mark where the brass is being forced back, I'm just concerned about how low I can go when the book says 'going below minimum loads is not recommended'. I'm new to reloading and its confusing the hell out of me.

 Does anybody out there reload a tikka 6.5 x 55. I've just started and i'm using hornady brass, vit n160 powder with sierra 140g gameking boat tail soft points. The book says min 42.2 and max 45.6. I'm down to 38 and still having pressure signs, any suggestions please.

Mick, what primers are you using?

How far off the lands are you as well?

I was using 44grns of Vit 160 and Sierra Gamekings with Fedral brass, but not getting spectacular results.

I packed reloading in in the end, but my next change was going to be from CCI to Federal primers.

Thanks for the replies guys,

I've managed to get to the bottom of the prob via my local gunsmith. The problem was with some of the brass being too soft which was why I was getting what appeared to be pressure signs on some and soot from low loads on others when fired as a batch. I've now bought some new lapua brass so I'm starting with everything the same rather than brass from different batches. I'm 20 thou off the lands and using cci 200's.

Thanks again
