NEW SEASONS BIRDS

WENT OUT ON THE PEAS YESTERDAY FROM ABOUT 11.00, HUGE FIELD BUT THEY JUST WOULD NOT DECOY. PLENTY BIRDS TOO. ENDED UP WALKING DOWN THE TRAM LINES AROUND 18.00, AS THE DAY HAD BEEN REAL SLOW, STOOPY STYLE, THEN KNEELING WHEN THEY WERE IN RANGE. WHAT A TWIT, BUT WHAT A CRACK.

WAS GETTING REALLY CLOSE BEFORE THEY FLEW OFF. THEY SEEMED TO TAKE THEIR TIME COMING UP, AS THE PEAS ARE SO HIGH AND THICK AND THEY WERE RIGHT UNDER THEM. THEY WERE THEN FLYING AROUND WONDERING WHERE THE SHOTS WERE COMING FROM. PICKED UP 14 THIS WAY, THOUGH DROPPED 6 MORE, BUT COULD NOT FIND THEM.

SHOT TWO OF THE NEW SEASONS BIRDS EARLIER, NO COLLAR AND STILL A BIT HAIRY, AND THEY WERE MASSIVE. MUCH LARGER AND HEAVIER THAN THE ADULTS. THEY LOOKED LIKE CHICKENS ON THE CRADLES NEXT TO THE ADULT BIRDS. WONDER IF THIS WARMER WEATHER AND ABUNDANCE OF FOOD, IS PRODUCING LARGER PIGEONS. WILL THEY BE THE SIZE OF TURKEYS IN A FEW YEARS TIME? :hmm:
