TOM
Hi guys can anyone tell me how to slow down my wiper motor on my rotary machine. I can buy one on E-Bay but I am determined to make one as I have made all the other bits , I have been told to connect a bulb to the circuit to remove some of the power but there must be a better way. If cannot make one maybe i will convert the arms in to rotors and make myself a small Helicoptor. Thanks Tom
ernyha
There has been a recent thread on this topic, see: http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/ind...?showtopic=5089 Welcome to the site Tom.

Seymour Butts
Tom, If you can help it dont use resistors or long lengths of cable, this will drain your battery and stop your motor working effiently. This method is fine if there is no load on the motor, as soon as a load is placed on it the increased armature current adds to the voltage drop in the resistor and decreases the voltage available at the armature and flattens your battery fast. Look on the internet for a DC motor speed controller that uses pulse width modulation, they normally handle 3amps max and are very efficient as the load (your magnet) is either on or off. ( Expect to pay between £15-20) The rate that it is on and off is seen as an average voltage at the load, therefore none of your battery power is wasted in the cable or speed controller giving longer operating time. If you are using the slow speed of your wiper motor use a LM317T adjustable voltage regulator circuits for its use can be found online and are simple to construct the most you will pay to build this is £5. Hope this helps
TOM
Thanks Seymour i will look at this option, that is if my brain can take it in cheers.
