Popgun
I took my 2 Cockers for a run over the heath on the shores of the harbour i'ts got a large pond so gave the dogs a few retreaves from the water and the bull rushes all went ok took them up to the low sandy cliffs over looking the sea to dry off the ground is heather gorse and ferns the wind was blowing from the sea about 25 mph did a few retreaves normaley when they get about 30 yards down wind they get the scent and work back up wind to the dummy, today i had to use hand signals to get them whithin a few feet of the dummys before they got the scent, it was over cast and damp so you would think scenting would be good it goes to show theres to scent than we understand
anser2
Scent near the sea is a fickle thing. One day my golden retriever can scent a duck on the saltmarsh from 50 yards away , but on the next day it will have to trip over the bird to find it.
