Guest topshot_2k
Hi, i bought a Winchester Select Elegance (3" chambers) about 2 years ago. The booklet says its steel shot proofed aslong as no more than 1/2 choke is used. However does that mean it can handle 36g+ 3" Steel shot or does it mean its suitable for standard 2 3/4 Steel shot and 3" LEAD?? The barrels do have the Fleur de lys proof marks but i cant see anything about 3" steel shot/pressure etc??
Trussman
If it has this on the Proof marks, it is safe to use with Heavy steel loads
Guest topshot_2k
Yep it has that symbol on both barrels but i couldnt see any pressures/'STEEL SHOT' Writing on the barrels. So is that symbol for 3" & 3 1/2 Steel proofing? is there a different mark for 2 3/4 steel proofing?
Trussman
As far as I know they don't proof guns with 2 3/4 chambers for steel shot as no one (To my knowledge) go above 36g 2 3/4 steel loads. If you're in doubt, I'd contact Winchester just to make sure it's safe to use steel shot in. ATB Trussman
