Chard
I've got my Mum and my eldest son staying with me at the moment, so yesterday, we thought we'd have a day in Wales, as the weather was so uncharacteristically good. The idea was to have mooch about the scenic bits (my Mum has never been to Wales ) find a few Red Kites, take a few cheesey photos AND......sneak the shotties in the back of the car, so that me and the lad could have a bang at a few clays on a ground we'd never visited, on the way down. Well, we arrived at a shooting ground that probably ought to remain nameless, and drove in. Strange, nobody about, they must be closed, although it was well within their advertised opening hours. It was like the ******* Marie Celeste. used cups/mugs outside on the tables. sit on lawn-mower tractor thingey sat there with the keys in the ignition, side door open, so we went in, like you do. PC in the office left on, cash lying around, cartridges lying around, two hard shotgun cases lying on the side, locked but with something in them, judging by the weight and nobody in sight!!!! We thought that they'd be back in a minute, though we thought it odd that there were no customers cars so we sat in the car park and made a brew (the lad is like a *****, carries a Thermos stove around in his car ). We sat in the car park for a good half hour and never saw a soul - scary stuff. Now I know the Welsh are very trusting of their neighbours and the crime rate in rural Wales is probably zilch, but ******* hell, we were in there from Manchester, there could be anybody dropping in I was in two minds whether to advise plod, but didn't. Very odd. Edited September 22, 2008 by Chard
