JDFrain
feeding them on wheat, loose fed mainly round the pens and gorse bushes also still using top hat feeders but they will be coming in soon. Costs of wheat are up and down a little we got 5 ton for £500.00 which is a very good price but expect to pay upto £150 per ton. Getting it from local farmers tends to be your best bet become a regular customer for them and they should/will look after you, our farmer even lets us store it in his barn for us You could try and get some from last year that may lower the price a little... john Edited September 28, 2008 by JDFrain
chrisjack231
yeah im getting mine for £100 a ton at the moment, all my pheasants are on wheat im still feeding marsdon pellets to my parts, expensive i know, but feels it holds birds on my land better than wheat, just because of past experiance trial and error
CharlieT
I also feed Marsdens pellets. I keep them on pellets all the way through, experience proves they do far better when kept on pellets although I suspect they pick up a bit of the pheasants wheat. tulkyuk
Keep them on Mardens grower untill they are all out, then put them on a mixture of Wheat and split maize - the split maize should hold them in and around your Crop

We have quite a high rainfall up here which trying for the birds but since I have been keeping them on pellets they have kept the weight on and are much stronger and healthier. It really is worth the extra cost.
