MAJ2 Posted October 3, 2008 Report Share Posted October 3, 2008 Walking through a stubble field this afternoon and my bitch pup (8 months) started scratching at a straw bale. I rolled it over, we're talking about the old style small bales here, and she was under in a shot and emerged with a mouse in her jaws. She killed it quite quickly, but was a bit reluctant to drop it, I think she would rather have eaten it. However, I managed to get it off her, and we spent the next half hour or so looking under bales. She soon got the hang of things, and our final tally was 7. As far as I'm aware this is the first time she's killed, I've deliberately kept her away from the farm which is crawling with rats, but I'm chuffed with her performance, and I reckon I've got another good little ratter in the making.
