jweaver
I am soon going to be buying my first shotgun, but I am left handed and right eye dominant, which is a bit of a nightmare. I had my first lesson last week, and used a left handed gun, which was fitted with a fibre optic device called "Easyhit".. It was frankly amazing and I managed to shoot 50 out of 60 clays!! The 'dot' provided by Easyhit was so easy to see, it made aiming really easy (relatively speaking) Since I can shoot like this, this looks to be the best choice for me and I would question that "if it isn't broken, why fix it).. But having the 'easyhit' installed all the time, is going to be a pain.. If it falls off then its going to spoil my shooting. And if I loose it, its going to get expensive. The interesting thing with me is that if I swing a bat, I do it right handed.. if I swing a golf club.. Again, right handed.. When 'swinging' something, left handed feels alien to me. However, if I punch something, I am left handed.. With a gun, right handed doesn't feel right, but based on the fact that I can 'swing' right handed, there is scope that I could change. I just wonder if people think that I should stick with what I am comfortable with (i.e left handed) and live with the fact that I am "cross eye dominant".... or.. Whether I should simply change to right handed and be done with it... What are peoples thoughts on this. Jon
mendevelium
I would seriously recommend that you stay with what you have found that works. Changing from right to left shoulder can result in disaster- trust me I know! Your problem seems pretty common and many such people have issues- stick with what works. It may indeed be expensive to replace if it gets lost but it is a small price to pay for good shooting. All the best, Bob.
