The clip you can see when you look into the loading port that retains the shells, sorry not sure of its correct name looks worn and does not keep the shells held back.On my semi auto and other guns I can unload the mag by depressing the clip but on this gun i picked up cheap the shells protrude about 3/4 inch .The gun works fine but its just extra fiddly to load a 2nd round. Is it worth getting it fixed? Are there spares or should I just get on with it?

Thanks for any info

The part you are looking at is the cartridge stop, On my model 30 it only contacts the cartridge rim by about 2mm , You should be able to bend the end out to meet the cart rim but you will need to take the trigger group out and the cart stop comes out when you undo it's pivot screw , Only bend the end or you may cause the action to jam, Failing that you can order a new part from E Gunspares in the USA the part number is 117170D item number 22 on the exploded drawing they have on line it lists for $7-68 not including postage.

Hope this helps

Thanks Andy for going to so much trouble. I will get on their website now. How have you found the Savage by the way? Used mine yesterday and apart from shooting badly (my fault) like it so far.

The stop on this one looks chewed as if it has been on the wrong end of pliers once or twice. have ordered a new one now thanks!rest of the gun is A1.
