Im new to this pigeon shooting. Coming over from shooting clays most weekends. I was told about pigeon shooting by an old friend, and have been out twice on my grandads farm. I shot two pigeons and a pheasent. But still both times nuthing has flown to the decoys. We shoot on an oil seed rape field surrounded by woods apart from one side which has a road running down it. We have established the flight lines but dont know where to set up the hide or what decoys to put out and in what shape. There is plenty of pigeons arround its just th piont of attracting them we cant seem to understand.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Younge shooter ,

There are many threads on the forum giving advice on how to decoy pigeons . Perhaps you could look these threads up and have a good read . Anything that you do not understand you could ask questions later . It would take to long to tell you all the tricks of pigeon shooting in one reply . Dont be afraid to ask questions . Just a surgestion ,there are many forum members from essex and i am sure one of them would take you under their wing and mentor you as you have a farm to shoot on . Best of luck Harnser .

Good advice from Harnser , Like you I started shooting at our family farm , Instany sucsess is expected these days in most hobbies , you have a distinct advantage just being able to have a shoot , in time you will I am sure become as good as the best ,

Its a long road , learning as you go , the advantage now is , Forums like this , where knowledge can be looked up ,

A keeness to sucseed ,plus a love of trhe countryside, is vital if you are to enjoy [ for this is why we are united here ] your shooting , Good Luck . in 12 months WE could be learning from YOU!! , POW!
