sirnovember
I'm thinking of getting one for shooting the crows and other small vermin on my premish. I've applied for a 22lr, but I need something that will do the job in the meantime. Anyone used this rifle? reviews? What is the humane killing distance of a 177 anyway? Thanks B)
sirnovember
Why are pointed pellets not sutible for hunting? I thought they offered more pentetration. B)
realtreedave
the range of a 177 is the same as a 22 air rifle.the only difference realy is the trajectory, the 177s is slightly flatter.somebody is bound to dissagree, but i used to have the same rifle you mention, and i couldnt get on with it,wether it was just me i dont know,it kicked like a mule and refused to group below 3 inches no matter what ammo i put through it .part exchanged it against a bsa ultra
realtreedave
pointed pellets are more prone to damage at the tip.i think the shape in flight is also balisticaly unstable due to the low speads that an air rifle throws them out at
debrovnik
...it kicked like a mule and refused to group below 3 inches no matter what ammo i put through it . My BSA Lightning was the same. Kicked like an Ox! Never successfully zeroed it - ever! B)

noluv6
I highly recommend but by the sound's of some of the comment's people dont know how to shoot springer's. mine dont kick hard but it does kick. the silencers are rubbish and i recommend pulling it off and getting it screw cut. solid rifle, gas ram it and it will last for ever, the tactical stock has just made it that more bomb proof. so easy to shoot a pcp then a springer. been's you have fac I would suggest you get 25 cal and 20 ft lol or look at 2nd hand fac airguns as there so cheap it is un real, ive seen super10s 35 ft/ibs 200 quid, rapids at 40 ft/ibs for 300 quid. seen webley springers at 25 ft/ibs 130 quid and falcon fn19s fo 130 odd quid. fac air gun prices are un real how cheap they are. airssassin
I had a BSA lightening xl in .177. Out of the box it was a little tricky to shoot straight... I gas rammed mine and it transformed it. For hunting purposes I wouldn't try more than 30-35 yards due to the short barrel and light weight. Domed pellets are best as always for accuracy and lethality. Mine liked H&N field and trophy. It accounted for lots of clean squirrel and pigeon kills and I wish I still had it. The silencer is a bit noisy but it does the job down range.
