Boomstick
Ok - bit of an obscure one but here goes.... My father lives in india and is thinking of setting up a gun club. This would cater to both locals (very cheap membership) and foreigners (higher price - as is the norm for everything in india ). I think it is a good idea, in that it will both be very popular locally giving him a good social network but it will also be able to generate quite a substantial income from tourists. Here's my idea for a set up (guns listed are suggested, not exclusive!): 10m range for pistols, air pistols etc 25m range for airguns, .22 50m range for .22 etc 100m range for larger bores Clay pigeon area - (undecided about the discipline; sporting is best but hardest to set up and needs more traps no?) Bar/Clubhouse (serves non-alcoholic drinks all day/alcoholic drinks when the ranges close!) I have a few questions for those in the know: 1) If this is going to cater for tourists, guns need to be on site - what guns and how many seems reasonable? And how does one build a secure 'gun room'? 2) Safety first - What is the safest way to change targets at the end of ranges of these sizes? a pulley system? thoughts... 3) Would you say these ranges provide a fair spread to encompass most shooting disciplines - if not what should be changed/added? 4) What would be the most sensible way to configure these ranges, with safety as the paramount concern? 5) In terms of noise pollution, what kind measures can be taken to prevent angering neighbours? and how far will the sound carry? clayman
Everything you need to know is at Bisley Ranges Surrey. The HQs of the National Rifle Assn, the Nat Small Bore amd the Clay Pigeon are all on site, and all three types of ranges are there. Take a trip out, knock on the NGB's doors and get their info and advice, walk the grounds and see every possible configuration.
