MK38
It's a bit early to jump up and down yet , but it looks like i might get some shooting on a nearby farm. The farm is part of a game shoot that my mate belongs to, and the farmer in question has a real problem with Pigeon damage... some of the game shooters normally only pop over at the weekend... only every now and then, so his rape has been hit very hard this Winter..... it was 6-8" tall before xmas , now it is barely out the ground in places. As it happens we could not get to grips with the Pigeon as we'd hoped , as they merely went to neighbouring farms at the sound of a shot..... but at least we kept them on the move ! My mate spent all day driving round the farms , firing the odd shot here and there to keep the birds moving. I finished the day with a dozen, but it should have been many more... but at least the farmer was happy and it looks like i might be allowed back on Tuesday. The evening roost was a complete flop, only adding 1 more Pigeon, 1 Crow and a Squirrel... it turns out the keepers son had shot that wood for the last couple of evenings... ****** ! The Pigeon were in huge flocks in the main, i saw at least four different ones that toured the valley , and at last a sign the flocks were breaking up, as all day small groups and pairs kept flying between the flocks. But it was a lovely day just to be out in the country... even if it wasn't the best day to decoy. While talking to the farmer, he told me he's got some beans to drill soon, and is dreading the attention the Pigeon will give it ....... and yes , i did point out i was very willing to do my bit if he wanted ....
