ChrisNicholls Posted February 28, 2009 Report Share Posted February 28, 2009 A game gun would most likely be the most suitable, these are usually fixed choke at something like 1/4 and 3/4 - with 1/4 choke throwing a more open pattern and often used for nearer shots, 3/4 throws a tighter pattern and is often said to be better for further away shots. In practice it does not always work like that as you could take a shot at something with the 1/4 choke barrel (more open choke is usually the first fired) and then a second opportunity presents itself a bit nearer. A better choice would be a multi choke gun, either a game model or a sporter, then you can play around with chokes on game and clays and see what suits you best, it won't be long before you just stick to something like 1/4 1/2 for everything.
