Billy.
If you have a closed ticket you may only use your rifles on land you have permission and which has been signed off by the local FEO. One permission may be signed off to a 30-06 and the other farm or whatever may be signed off to a .22lr. It's quite easy to see that this means one land can accommodate all calibres up to a 30-06 and the other will only allow .17HMR and a .22LR If you have an open ticket, you do not need the FEO to sign the land off, as you are trusted that you can make a decision on what is a safe shot. Rarely people on their first licence get this, but it can be removed after a while (usually on a renewal) If you acquire new land, you have to check it's signed off if you have a closed ticket. If it's not, a visit can be arranged with the landowner. Edited March 4, 2009 by harfordwmj
liamlumsden
so been my 1st app i will most likely have a close ticket and this means when i get new land i have to imform the FEO and see if the land is safe for the rifle i intend to use. will the police come out to check the land aswell you mean? Billy. Well there are a few people on here who got an open ticket on their first application. However you either have to show a great history of firearms experience or complete pot luck that they're in a good mood...! Basically the local firearms department will have a register of all land that has been signed off. If you already have land, ring the licensing department and check if it's signed off and to what calibre. If they say it's not signed off, you will have to get the FEO to inspect the land and clear it off to a calibre, or reject it for specific reasons. Have you got any idea what calibres you want? As your land will decide what calibre you get. The last bit of land I heard about getting cleared got told on the day and then my mate had to wait a week for it to get on the register before he could shoot it. Billy.
You'd have to send something in with your form. Just wait, or put a letter through the door with the police permission form. Land isn't listed on your licence and you don't just add it by writing it on. The police will make it hard for you to get one if you don't have a written permission off the land owner. (A few people will disagree, but that's probably because their force is a bit nicer.)

Billy.
i have a letter from 1 farmer but i have many farms that i do not have it written yet That's fine. Put the one letter in an get your FAC off then. You only need one bit of land. You're only getting a pop gun anyway, so you don't need loads of land. Billy.
thanks m8 u have cleared alot up for me many thanks No problemo. Once you get your FAC through, just have an informal chat with your FEO and say you've also been given a load of other land. He'll just check it's signed off. I doubt he'll ask you to send in a letter off the farmer.
