old rooster
The worrying thing is that this change in legislation came out of the blue and didn't appear to have come as a result of consultation with any of the recognised shooting bodies. Very worrying and again poorly thought out like most recent legislation, you only have to look at the ever changing immigration laws, the recent cock up with anti terrorist laws etc etc etc etc........................... Guest flightline
DEFRA did run a very poor consultation which was featured on this site and BASC among others was consulted. I replied to the consultation, which contained a number of proposals, some of which were little short of lunatic. I know of other pigeon shooters who replied but by the time some of us realised what was goining on it was too late to get many farmers interested. It included the proposal on use of other control methods first. I also complained about the quality of the consultation, got an acknowledgement saying it would be taken up and heard no more. I believe (but could be wrong) that therewas a commitment to further consultation on any actual proposals for changes to the general licence. I don`t think this second more focussed consultation ever happened.
