joke209061
Hi, Im both new to PW and shotgun shooting. I live in Reading, Berkshire and am looking for somewhere to go clay shooting. Ive already been put in touch with Happey Valley and have arranged to go there to sort out what gun id like to get. However i work shifts and dont have regular weekends off, so im looking for somewhere i can go and shoot during the week. SO i guess my question is: Does anyone know of any places that you can shoot clays during the week? Preferably somewhere that doesnt charge the earth. Also where is the cheapest place to buy cartridges around here? I have bought a cheap o/u baikal for starters, and i dont want to go anywhere too elitist. Many thanks Joke209061. Peter De La Mare
May be expensive, but is a good ground. http://www.rbss.co.uk/ In reading as well. Edited March 14, 2009 by Peter De La Mare
fuzrat
Hi Joke, Grounds I have used within a reasonable drive to you, Wylye shooting ground open for practice thurs and sat, Registered comp on a sunday, Four Counties CTC open 3 sundays out of 4, 50 bird opens and 1 70 bird reg per month The Shooting Club at Upavon open loads through the summer and on claymate so you can set a delay to the trap release if you are shooting on your tod. Bit further is Edgehill just outside banbury plenty of trap and skeet stuff and nice ground. All can be found on google and a reasonably priced. I would also suggest having a look at the CPSA website and having a chat in your local gunshops, they will also know of any of the little "straw bale shoots" around. Best place I have found for shells is Just Cartridges bit of a trek for you but if you are buying 1000 at a time worth it, (good for me as they are closer to me than my local gunshop) All the best, Fuzrat
