Shooting in Norfolk

Hi,

I am new here. I have been pigeon shooting about a year and love it, I often go both roost shooting and decoying with my brother in law but keen to find somewhere more local to shoot. Any ideas/suggestions? I am not sure what fields belong to which farm, or even where the farm house is and am a bit nervious about knocking even if I did.

Dan

Ps I guess it helps if I say where in Norfolk. Norwich area is ideal but will travel a bit.

Dan,

Best advice is to get yourself an Ordanance Surey map 1:25,000 scale (Landranger series I think), an dthen find all of the farms on there near you to start with. Knock on the door at a suitable time, i.e not Sundays and not at tea time or past 8pm (Farmers get up early and get very tetchy as it gets late.

Dress smart casual, and the best way to do it is to drive around the immediate vicinty of the farm you're going to knock on and spot where the Pigeons are and that gives you an in road by saying, "Sorry to disturb you, My name is ******* and I was driving past when I noted that the field of OSR/Peas/Barley etc is being eaten by woodpigeons and wondered if I could offer any assistance in shooting them for you".

Farmers don't bite (Well Norfolk farmers might :good: ), just be polite, if he says no (You'll get more say that than yes), just ask if you can leave your contact details should he find he needs someone and move onto the next one. Leave it a month or two and go back and try him again.

Good idea when you do this to have a copy of your SGC/Insurance etc in the car with you. I can email you a permission letter ready to go complete with Photo ID slot that you can do a few of.

One thing you will find though is that round that neck of the woods you will struggle, as most have game shoots on or other shooters already, but best of luck.

SS
