Scope Notches Help

As you may know from your school math's there are 360 degrees in a circle and the degree is also subdivided into 60 minutes. (OK I can get my head around this part) ???

If you draw an angle of 1 minute the distance between the arms at 100 yards will be 1.0475 inches. So at a range of 100 yards with 1/4 minute stops on the adjusters then one click will move the shots by 1/4 of an inch. (Still there just about)

Now we can calculate the number of clicks needed to move shots onto the target. For an air rifle a zero range of 25 yards is probably ideal, at this range one minute of arc is 1/4 inch, so for a 1/4 minute adjustment at 25 yards you need 16 clicks to move the shots one inch.(Now Im Lost) :good:

Can anyone explain this please as simple as possible would be great

Cheers

Ian

I have zeroed the scope in at 35 yds and the difference between this and then shooting at 25yds is about 4 inches on the target, which is appox 20 clicks on the Vertical adjustment.

Is this about right and from a field point of view how or what would you do to judge the distance before taking a shot :good:

its quite simple, the minute of angle stays the same but the distance between the rays (arms) reduces as it nears the center point, 0"at 0yds, 1/16" at 25yds, 1/8"at 50yds, 3/16 at 75yds, 1/4" at 100yds, 1/2"at 200yds and so on to infinity

I think i got it

If one minute=quater of a inch

and you had to move the shot 1 inch

4 x clicks would give you 1 minute =quarter inch x 4 to give you you 1 inch of movement =16 clicks to an inch. :good:

Is that right
