mls77
I only hav permission on 2 farms for myself at the moment but it,s more than enough land for me all the vermin/pest control that i can handle plus the odd pheasant and woodcock on one of the farms. Anyway I just been reading all the posts about people struggling to find land to shoot and can feel for them but i dont think alot of people do thereselves any favours, ie turning up at a farm wrong time of day when farmers are busy, looking like you've been dragged through a hedge backwards when you do go to farm. ETC ETC Anyway my point is just use a bit of common sense when going to see farms and farmers, and dont get despondant when you ge a " no thanks " When you do get a permission the most important thing to do is LOOK AFTER IT DONT TAKE THE P*** I went to see the farmer the other day no intention of shooting, but i knew he was due to drill barley and beans, so thought just check in makesure that he hadnt got em in early. Contractor was there that day, so farmer was more than glad to see me. Anyway cut a long story short because I always makesure i look after him, he calls the contractor in from the field explains to him that i do all his pest control and i'm reliable safe and trustworthy. The point being the contractor is so busy this time of year working all the hours god sends he cant look after his own farm which has a huge rabbit problem, so with all the praise my farmer has heaped on me the contractor is more than happy for me to give him a hand with his rabbit problem result another 1200 acres of land for me to shoot on. I think once you do gain permission the farming community is tight nit and if you do a good job for one he's gonna tell his mate's this is how i've got my shooting land. So i hope you guys still looking for land find some soon Good luck
