justin.willerton
Hi, Just wondered what advantage is there in having extended chokes as to flush, other than ease of removing them. Do they have any effect on shot pattern
clayman
There is an advantage in longer choke tubes in tighter chokes. Full, 3/4 , maybe 1/2 - may have better edge definitions to the pattern from a longer taper to the choke tube. That they "extend" is irrelevant and just fashion - as the wife says - its length that counts.
raistrick
Aye, think it's just a tapering matter and getting a longer taper from the same barrel. Just ensures that the shot isn't funnelled too quickly, which could cause less regular shot patterns. Although some are extended because they are ported, which is a different effect and not one I've tried.
