jordan
the other way round my way some contractors tried planting potatoes on some of the land i shoot unfortuantely for them they couldnt get out about half the harvest up i was down there the other day filling a couple of sacks with spuds and noticed about 80-100 pigeons feeding on them i sat and watched but couldnt see a flight line there was a couple of trees close by the seemed to be flying to i went down today and there still there i know its a bit late and all but would it be worth me setting up some deeks where they were feeding and sitting in wait under the trees
Teal
Pigeons can sometimes feed on rotten potatoes especially if they have frozen and then broken down as pigeons can then peck at them and digest them- from what you say this is what is happening. Have a look at what they're eating, and if there's plenty of it around (rotten potatoes) and the farmer isn't doing anything with it then perhaps give them a couple more days to build up in numbers and then give them a whack- depending when you have time available, you should certaininly get a few.
