New Pigeon trap

Recommended Posts

Been playing about with a new trap this week and added a new bit to it and was wondering if anyone else had done this, probably a waste of time but i thought that i would make use of a galvanised roof on the inside of the trap instead of on top and have it set on a rod so that i can half the size of the trap to help when emptying it, just need to sort the mechanism out as its just running on a string at the moment.

I read this a day or so CC and then couldn't remember where !

I think it's a great idea. I've seen something a bit similar before known as 'cage fingers' which you can use block things into a corner.

I've never seen anything built in like this though.

cheers guys, i've seen cage combs before for say rat live traps where you can back the rat up to the end with a series of wooden combs inserted for an easy dispatch with a pistol. I had the divider idea purely by accident while fitting the roof, i found that obviously the bigger the trap and the more doors that were fitted created a problem with emptying. With the divider/roof you can cut down on losses by pushing all birds two one side if need be so you can concentrate on blocking one door at the front and give the birds less room to move about while you round them up. Its only in its early stages so i will let you know how it goes....

sorry for the delay folks. It works fine in dividing the trap for ease of emptying just needs a bit of tweeking which i just have had no time to do. Not had great numbers in terms of catching about 16 woodies, 4 ferals and a crow....just can't seem to pull in the ferals which suprised me as i expected the woodies to be more wary.
