Sqwelchy
Hey dudes Im looking into getting my FAC as the famer whos land i shoot on has given me another 2 fields to shoot on that have pigeon and crow problems. Now then,im gunna have trouble sorting them out with my air rifle so im looking at getting a shotgun as long as he's ok with it. I would like to know what sort of shotgun should i get and ammo, and what sort of things are the local plod looking for before they will grant me a FAC? Plus if theres anyone out there who will be happy to show me the ropes on pigeon/crow shooting, would be most appreciated. Thanks
Bleeh
If you want a shotgun you want to apply for your Shot gun certificate. (SGC). This will limit you to any smooth-bore gun with a diamatre under 2'' that holds one shot in the chamber and two in the magizine maxium. (i.e a 2+1 shotty). If you want any more shots (say a 10 shot auto) THEN you have to apply for a FAC.
Heladoxa
Hiya squelchy, You do not need a fire arms certificate. What you need is a shotgun certificate. The very best thing is to go to your local police, ask for a meeting with their shooting officer and he will tell you all you want to know about the law side of it and probably a lot of good general advice as well. To get a certificate you will have to contact him anyway, so you might as well do it now and get it right. It used to be that the HAD to grant a certificate unless you were too young, a criminal or mad. Or if you lived in a block of flats in Birmingham. Probably changed a bit now. For more help contact bill.lehan@uwclub.net Cheers Bill
